Retroverse Year

1959

Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper vanish on a frozen Iowa runway — and an entire generation learns that heroes can disappear overnight. The grief hangs over every transistor radio, yet the charts keep climbing because rock and roll refuses to sit still. Doo-wop harmonies and early soul fill the air while the culture catches its breath. The charts keep climbing because grief and groove refuse to cancel each other out.
